- Openings to 8 000mm wide
- 0.8mm–1.2mm galvanised slat
- Chain hoist or motorised
Vanderbijlpark is a steel town, and the industrial doors here work in conditions most Gauteng sites never see: radiant heat near hot processes, mill scale and iron oxide in the air, and cycle counts set by a continuous operation rather than office hours. On those buildings the door is production equipment, not a fitting.
How we build industrial roller shutter doors
- Heavy-gauge curtains chosen for the cycle count and the conditions the opening actually sees.
- Deep guides so a knocked curtain stays in its channel instead of coming out of the building.
- Barrels sized on deflection across the real span, which is what stops a wide door bowing.
- Industrial drives with proper duty ratings and a manual override an operator can reach.
Heat near hot processes
Radiant heat bows a light curtain, cooks the lubricant out of bearings and hardens seals until they crumble, and it does all of that without a single impact. On a hot bay we specify heavier gauge, high-temperature bearings and seals, expansion allowance in the guides, and drives and panels mounted out of the radiant path.
Scale and abrasive dust
Mill scale and ferrous dust in a guide behave like grinding paste. The curtain edge wears, the guide face scores, and the door runs heavy long before anything visibly breaks. Deeper guides with better sealing, a heavier curtain gauge and a proper cleaning interval are the answer; a repeat slat replacement is not.
Doors specified around shutdown windows
Heavy door work on a continuous plant happens in a planned shutdown, and the date does not move. We plan manufacture backwards from your window, have the door on site and checked before it opens, and staff the job to finish inside it. That planning is most of what separates a supplier who works on plant from one who does not.
Wide-span and high openings
Openings above about five metres need the barrel, the shaft and the fixing steel calculated rather than assumed. Where the existing structure will not carry a wider door we quote the steelwork instead of hanging a door off something that will move.
Impact protection on working yards
Forklift and vehicle strikes account for most of the remaining damage. We specify deeper guides, fit bollards or impact posts where the traffic justifies it, and build the check into the maintenance schedule.
Structural steel around old openings
Much of the industrial stock here has been in service for decades, and the steel around the opening has taken a long working life and in places heat. We assess it as part of the survey and quote the repair separately, because a heavy new door on failing steel is a hazard rather than a maintenance item.
Fire-rated and insulated industrial doors
Where a compartment line runs through an opening the door must be a rated, certified assembly that drops when it is told to, supplied with its test documentation and commissioning record.
What an industrial roller shutter door costs in Vanderbijlpark
The price follows the span, the gauge, the working conditions, the duty rating of the drive and any structural work, quoted as separate lines. Survey and quote are free.
